Students in the Junior classes enjoy a variety of exercises that build confidence, personal awareness and a sense of achievement.
The Routine & The New
Young students really like structure and routine. It gives them comfort in that, at least for part of the class, they know what to expect. We start every class with the same warm-up so that students can make real progress with exercises that they repeat.
We also try to introduce new exercises regularly so that they can continue to develop courage when faced with new and unknown challenges.
Children at this age are enthusiastic about trying new things so we build on that by progressively introducing exercises that challenge their mental and physical abilities.
Locally owned by parents
Shaolin-Do is owned and operated by parents and long-time Arlington residents Maiky and Claire Tran.
Like all parents, we love the look on a child's face when they earn something and know they had to work for it. We've modified our adult curriculum to have more frequent and smaller milestones so that our students can build on the idea that effort begets ability resulting in achievement and recognition. At our school, high fives and cheers are absolutely used...but not so much that they become meaningless.
Movement is fun. Animal movement is even more fun. Shaolin-Do draws from a variety of challenging and stimulating movements that develop strength, flexibility, coordination and balance - all skills that your student can carry with them no matter what they do in life.
